We had a great biography celebration yesterday! Students went all out on their outfits and/or props. Students switched partnerships a number of times and answered questions based on their person of study. Some questions included: Where did you grow up? Who influenced you? What superpower would you have?

Mr Kruger and Mrs Duffield's Reading classes with focus on reading fluency for the next couple of weeks. Every night, students will have a passage they need to read through a couple of times at home.

Our biographies need to be read one more time, either with a peer or an adult. This Thursday, students should be ready to speak about their person of study AND have a costume and/or prop that represents them.

Today we looked at strong leads and how to write an introduction paragraph for our biographies. We will have our classroom biography share on January 25th- remember to come dressed as your person. If dressing like them is too difficult, you may find a prop that symbolizes your person. In Social Studies, we have finishing looking at location relating to the Kingdom of Kush.

Today we continued to work on body paragraphs for our biographies and started to think about how we can represent our person in living form. Is there a prop or outfit that can be worn to school that represents your person? In Social Studies, we continued to look at social class structures.

Today we tested out our science engineering projects, wrote body paragraphs for our biographies, and looked more closely at the social structure pyramid of Ancient Egypt. Above is a visual of 10 authors that "live" in Mrs Duffield's house.

During ELA class, we read a mentor text to help guide us through our biography writing. Sharing a common text as a class is a way that we can all practice writing strategies. For example, when we study what makes a strong introduction for our biographies, having all read a common text allows us to work together with ease.
